This sacrament is available to anyone who is experiencing a serious illness or  is preparing for major surgery. Anointing of the sick should be given at the beginning of a serious illness in order to provide the person with the courage and spiritual strength need to fight the illness. The sacrament may be repeated if a condition worsens or if someone becomes ill again. The sacrament is also recommended for the elderly to give them the courage and strength they may need to face the natural effects of aging. Our parish offers anointing of the sick during the 9 am First Saturday Mass or by appointment.

The "Last Rites" precede death and include anointing of the sick and Viaticum, which is a special form of the Eucharist intended to nourish a person on the final stage of their journey into eternal life.  Please be mindful that Viaticum requires a person to be awake and cognizant enough to receive the Eucharist. Please contact the office as soon as someone in your care is nearing the end of life in order to schedule the Last Rites; it is best to do this as soon as hospice or other end of life care is being considered. Este sacramento está disponible para cualquier persona que esté sufriendo una enfermedad o peligro debido a razones de salud, como una cirugía o un tratamiento contra el cáncer. Los últimos ritos preceden a la muerte e incluyen la unción de los enfermos y el viático, que es una forma especial de la Eucaristía destinada a nutrir a una persona en la parte final de su viaje hacia la vida eterna. Tenga en cuenta que el Viático requiere que una persona esté lo suficientemente despierta y consciente para recibir la Eucaristía.
